Cash and Strummer’s Redemption Song

by on August 14, 2014

Rick Rubin, the mastermind producer behind a staggering amount of inarguable classics, was – predictably – present for an iconic and exponentially poignant rendition of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.”  Joe Strummer, having just changed his travel plans to spend the week with Rubin and Johnny Cash as they worked tirelessly on the sessions for American IV: The Man Comes Around, ended up lending his unique gravity to the spaciously Cashed out version of the timeless Marley standard.  Though we aren’t usually ones for Throwback Thursdays here at Perspective Daily, the permanent relevance of “Redemption Song” makes this one deftly appropriate.
