Clinton as a Comic: Yes, It’s Happening

Bluewater Productions is releasing a Hillary Clinton comic book. Yes, we’re serious. And yes, we couldn’t be more excited.

Regardless of whether or not you’re a fan of the presidential candidate, you’re still going to want to check this graphic novel out. It’s a non-biased comic that isn’t interested in covering Clinton’s political agenda — instead focusing on Hilary’s story and career.

Darren Davis, the publishing company’s president, came up with the idea of political comic books back in 2008 (you’ll remember he has turned Rand Paul into a comic book star in the past). His idea was specifically spurred by both Hilary Clinton and Sarah Palin, who he believed “were being treated really unfairly in the press”, along with a multitude of other female figureheads in the media. Specifically, Davis is reported as saying, “You might not like [these women], but you have to respect them and their career.” And what do we say to that? Fair enough.

With Clinton’s early announcement to run for president, the press has only just begun scrutinizing her every move and making news out of her every word. It can be somewhat harrowing to watch the media attack women on a day-to-day basis, and so we have to say, it’s refreshing to see a book that’s not interested in picking a side or taking a stab.

Another one of our favorite selling points for the Bluewater Productions company? They have published a series of feminist biographies in the past, including the likes of Chelsea Handler, Ellen DeGeneres, and Princess Diana. In an entertainment and political world where men tend to get the upper hand, we’re more than happy to support the fair treatment of ladies in the publishing game. All the more power to you, Darren Davis — we respect your respect for women.
