Dolce & Gabbana close the catwalk at their 2015 Milan Fashion Week Show dedicated to motherhood
Dolce and Gabbana’s ode to motherhood on the catwalks of their 2015 Milan Fashion Week show probably started out with the best intentions. Their models stalked the runway pregnant, or post—with their stunning offspring in matching tow.
But D & G’s narrow artistic definition of svelte feminine motherhood quickly drew ire from the press. The fashion house’s rebuttal statements highlighting their equally (and ironic) old-fashioned narrow family definitions over modern inclusivity of all types of families resulted in a celebrity fueled hashtag campaign #BoycottDolceGabbana. Sir Elton John is leading the famous fray against D & G and their attempt at matronly artistic statement gone awry.
