One of the best-reviewed albums in recent history, Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 instaclassic Good Kid, M.A.A.D City is now the inspiration behind a new English course offered at Georgia Regents University.  According to the university’s website, professor Adam Diehl hopes to “examine the role of urban living on the development of young people” by using Lamar’s album as a starting point for classroom discussions on James Joyce, Spike Lee, Gwendolyn Brooks, James Baldwin, and many more.  In a recent USA Today profile, Diehl aptly described hip-hop, as a whole, “the most journalistic art form within pop culture.”
