Smiles: An E-Book That Adapts Its Plot to Your Location

Are you one of those people who likes to be reading a book based on the city you’re in? If so, you’re not alone, and you’re also about to get really excited.

Trip Book Smiles is a new app that actually uses a GPS to adapt a story to be in accordance with the location the device is in. Really cool, right? We definitely think so.

The idea of Trip Book Smiles is actually quite interesting, truly injecting the reader into the story and serving as an interactive type of reading. Not only does the story begin itself in whatever location the reader is in, but it also introduces the characters to new cities if the reader changes locations while reading. And as if the city names weren’t impressive enough, the text will also include famous landmarks within the story, incorporating them into the plot.

For example, the same sentence can either read:

         1. Destiny brought them together again in front of the Eiffel Tower.

         2. Destiny brought them together again in front of the Coliseum.

While the idea behind this book is certainly the first of its kind and something not to overshadowed, we can’t help but wonder what kinds of doors it will open for future reading experiences. It’s a truly exciting combination of the possibilities that can arise when a traditional art form such as writing works together with a more modern skill such as programming.

We know one thing for sure after discovering this beyond awesome new app — vacation reading will never be the same, and we mean that in the best way possible.
